The Saskatchewan Association of Nurse Practitioners (SANP) is the provincial voice for Nurse Practitioners across Saskatchewan. We are a member‑driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing NP practice, strengthening professional identity, and supporting high‑quality, accessible healthcare for all communities.

What We Do

SANP provides leadership and support to Nurse Practitioners through:

We represent NPs working in primary care, acute care, long‑term care, community health, mental health, and specialized practice areas.

SANP is governed by a Board of Directors composed of:

Our History

SANP was established in 2009 to unify and support Nurse Practitioners in Saskatchewan as the profession grew and evolved. Over the years, SANP has become a respected voice in provincial health policy, NP education, and professional advocacy.

Strategic Priorities

SANP’s strategic priorities reflect the evolving needs of Nurse Practitioners and the communities they serve across Saskatchewan. Our work is focused on strengthening NP practice, advancing system improvements, and supporting members through meaningful advocacy, education, and engagement.

Advocacy for Sustainable NP Funding Models

We champion the development and implementation of alternative NP funding models that support diverse practice settings, improve access to care, and ensure NPs can work to their full scope. SANP advocates for funding approaches that recognize NP expertise, enable innovative service delivery, and strengthen primary care capacity across Saskatchewan.

Strengthening NP Visibility and Influence

We work with government, regulators, and health system partners to elevate the role of Nurse Practitioners and ensure NP perspectives are included in provincial health planning and decision‑making.

Enhancing Member Engagement and Communication

We are committed to providing timely updates, accessible resources, and meaningful opportunities for members to connect, contribute, and shape the direction of the association.

Supporting Cultural Safety and Reconciliation

SANP prioritizes culturally safe care and reconciliation by supporting Indigenous leadership within the association, strengthening representation, and advancing equity‑focused initiatives.

Expanding Education and Mentorship Opportunities

We invest in professional development through the annual NP Education Conference, mentorship programs, and learning opportunities that support students, new graduates, and experienced NPs.

Modernizing Governance and Digital Infrastructure

We continue to strengthen SANP’s governance framework, digital systems, and operational processes to ensure clarity, transparency, and long‑term organizational stability.
